Final

Highly entertaining game. Did get sloppy at times but abundance of talent on the field.

 

QB Rex Henderson was a joy to watch. He is a solid athlete and both runs and throws the football well. He has really good arm strength and does a good job of throwing to a spot. Made a couple of 45-50 yard throws that were on a rope and looked like he just flicked his arm. Russellville did a good job of putting pressure on him and he was running for his life half the game.

 

Russellville has a ton of speed (what else is new?) and uses it well. Their two weakest points are their passing offense and pass defense. McMurray basically throws it up for grabs a lot, but he is a quick scrambler that makes things happen. Their lines are solid. I was really impressed with DL Caleb Hardison. He is a beast.

 

If the Panthers run into another team that spreads it out and passes the ball well, they could be in trouble. I see this team coasting until the F-S rivalry game at the end of the season.

 

Didn't know if anyone could provide an update on Rville FB Drew West. Went down with what looked like an ankle injury in the 4th quarter. He is a workhorse between the tackles and extremely reliable. Big loss for the Panthers if he is out for a long period.

This game sounded like a track meet. I have a couple of questions.

1. Someone that went to the game told me Butler County had

a receiver that Russellville could not stop. Does anyone know who that is?

2. What college offers does Rex

Henderson have at this point?

The receiver that gave Russellville fits was #11 Gage Ward. Really glad for the kid to start to come in to his own as last year in the first game of the season vs. Logan he suffered a broken femur. He has a titanium rod in his leg and has worked tirelessly to get back on the field.

 

Rex thus far has offers on the table from Morehead and Kentucky Wesleyan College. He is an outstanding young man who could be a great value to a college willing to throw together a package combining academics and athletics as he is a 4.0 student with a high ACT.

I wish Rex had played better competition i thing scouts would trust what they see far as stats and ability to compete at a high level .Also school he is at hasn't produced other recuits .basically program doesn't have any clot to help him .it's a shame bc I think he can play at next level.hope someone takes a chance .

Ward has turned into a nice athlete .good speed nice size.I believe he Will QB next year .good luck to both
