Songs by Very Famous Artists That You May Have Never Heard but Should Have

Featured Replies

I'll start. One of my favorite singers from the seventies was Karen Carpenter, who along with her brother Richard, performed as the Carpenters. They had many, many hits, including "Close to You," " Rainy Days and Mondays," "We've Only Just Begun," and "Top of the World."

A more obscure song of theirs was "Calling Occupants of Interplanetary Craft." How's that for a title? Really nice piece of music, sweet arrangement by Richard. The song was originally released in 1976 by the group Klaatu. Terry Draper and John Woloschuk of Klaatu composed the song.

By the way, the B-side of this single: "Can't Smile Without You." Enjoy.

I've been a big Reggie Dwight fan since the seventies. Seen many of his shows. We all know "Bennie and the Jets," Rocket Man," "Your Song," and "Candle in the Wind." However, none are any prettier than this little song off of the album Too Low For Zero. I absolutely love the lyrics! Some amazing writing here. If you've ever had a relationship that burned out and turned cold(most of us), you'll relate to this sad, but beautiful song.

We still sit at separate tables

And we sleep at different times

And the warm wind in the palm trees

Hasn't helped to change our minds

It was the lure of the tropics

That I thought might heal the scars

Of a love burned out by silence

In a marriage minus heart

And I call the kids on the telephone

Say there's something wrong out here

It's July but it's cold as Christmas

In the middle of the year

The temperature's up to ninety five

But there's a winter look in your mother's eyes

And to melt the tears there's a heat wave here

So how come it's cold as Christmas in the middle of the year

I dreamed of love in a better climate

And for what it's really worth

I put faith in the star we followed

To this Caribbean surf

But there's an icy fringe on everything

And I cannot find the lines

Where's the beauty in the beast we made

Why the frost in the summertime

Dan Fogelberg was a amazing singer/songwriter. You, of course, know "Longer," "Leader of the Band," "Run for the Roses," and " Same Ole Lang Syne." Here's the title track off of my favorite DF album. Simply an exquisite piece of music with words that a paint a picture. In the fall, I'll go out in the woods somewhere, enjoy the beauty and smell of autumn and play this tune to enrich the experience.

Another glorious piece of music by Fogelberg that you may have never heard. I love this!!! Makes me want to head up to the Northeast.

Fogelberg used to end his concerts with this song. Another incredible piece of music.

Lots and Lots of ELO songs that you are undoubtedly familiar with- "Sweet Talkin' Woman," "Strange Magic," "Don't Bring Me Down," Telephone Line," and many more...

Not as well known, but I like this one:

I can hear music
