Union County 7 Christian County 4

Not sure that big of an upset, Shelton pitched his ace, he knew it would be a tight game Union won 20 games this year and Coach Robison has won 2 titles in the past 5 years. Jacob Tapp, winning pitcher tonight one of the best in the region, Bo Robison best fielding center fielder in the region and maybe best in the state made 2 outstanding catches tonight, Trey Hutchinson one of best sophomores in the state and several seniors who all contributed tonight. Maybe a mild upset but according to two coaches I talked to tonight, really not that surprising, it's baseball.

Two of the top 3 teams in the region, Bad for Union as they have no one to pitch the rest of the week? Could this be the year of the Caldwell Tiger?

I'm just an ole country boy but I would say it's bad for Christian, Union plays another day maybe two more days and maybe even longer, Who Knows? As far as Caldwell, well sure they are the favorites as of now but don't write them in just yet. Isenberg is a savvy coach, king of the small ball and will pitch his ace tonight. I would not be surprised if Hendo pulls the upset.

I don't agree with Henderson being an underdog to Caldwell. I'm not picking on the Tigers (29-5 is a great season), but their schedule isn't in the same stratosphere as Henderson's. There are at least 10 games, if traded on the schedules, that would most likely reverse their records. Looks to be the same if they played Union or Christian's schedule. Also, in the previous meeting Caldwell got mercy ruled by Henderson in 5 ings. I wasn't there and maybe it was a worse case scenario on the pitching matchup for them. Both Union and Henderson appeared to be solid teams when I saw them play. Anyhow, good luck to all the Region 2 teams.

It all comes down to who is available to pitch. Anything can happen when the third pitcher is throwing

GloryDays, Your different stratosphere comment is kind of funny, if you've ever played sports you know one game in the middle of the season doesn't mean anything, you can't go by that. It's the post season now and things are tougher, Caldwell's schedule is no slouch and they beat a couple of teams that beat Henderson. Caldwell County has a lot of good pitching and 4 or 5 of them are lefty's which are very effective in high school simply because you don't see that many. Bigger schools aren't always better just because the schedule may or may not be better, anytime you have good pitching you are a threat.

Tigerspride. First, congrats to your Tigers on winning the 2nd Region! It wasn't about thinking Caldwell couldn't win it, just didn't agree they were the favorite over Henderson County. I hope you understood the stratosphere comment was purely about the schedule comparison. The one game by mercy rule got my attention but wasn't the deciding factor as I noted the possibility of pitching variables. I stand by the schedule comparison, but also understand championships aren't won on scheduling alone. Bottom line is the Tigers advanced by winning. This Friday I'll be pulling for Caldwell County. Good luck!

This will be the last chance for several years that CCHS will have a good team, lose 10 seniors and not much coming back. The whole district will be below average next season. Most of the region also will be down for a few years.
