Graves County 27-Trigg County 16 (Scrimmage)

Featured Replies

I was at this scrimmage tonight and watched until the 4th quarter when they started subbing in the JV and freshman. Graves looks to have a pretty decent passing game and not a not too shabby running game.

Trigg seems to have no passing game at all, but they have a couple of excellent backs, #1 and #13, those could have just been practice jerseys, you can never tell in a scrimmage. I had just expected to see a good Trigg team but amongst the fumbles and constant offsides they looked like they haven't been practicing or just didn't have their heads in the game.

If Graves is as good as it looked tonight, they could be a contender in 4A in the West.

I thought it was a combination of both Trigg's inexperience and Graves being pretty good. Sanderson looked really good at QB for Graves and McManus is a quality back. Trigg has ball security problems which will cause them problems all year. Their inexperience in the secondary was also a weakness and it showed. All I kept hearing was how Trigg was faster on defense this year than last but I didn't see it. Except for recovering two onsides kicks, Graves really needs work with their special teams -- two missed PATS and a muffed punt. I think Trigg will be OK but it is definately a rebuilding year in Cadiz.

Yeah, I agree, Trigg will be fine this year in 2-A. Sanderson must have some legs cause he ran a pretty long touchdown on one busted play. Yeah, Graves does need some work on its special teams. I thought that during a scrimmage teams didn't return kickoffs but they did in this game, it just seems like an unnecessary risk in a game like this to get kids hurt.
