After a scoreless first quarter, St Xavier scored on a short run early in the second period. The Colts returned the ensuing kickoff for a TD to knot the score at 7. The undeterred Tigers led 21-7 at the half. The Tigers were led by Lyons at QB who called his number repeatedly during the game. Rhodes also helped the St Xavier cause at RB. Alex Smith had a few nice runs and a couple of pass receptions lining up in various spots on offense. The Tigers ran a halfback pass to perfection for one TD and another pass was tipped up by a Colt before landing in the arms of a Xaverian for another score.

 

DeSales had some success with kick returns. The Colts defense was led by a relative newcomer to that side of the ball, Dalton Stratman.

 

The Tigers finished the freshman campaign at 7-3. It will be interesting to see how many of the 96 who started the season on the St Xavier roster return as sophomores.
