Roy Bowling hired as new head coach at North Laurel

Featured Replies

North Laurel needed to take the first step to developing the talent they have on the basketball floor. By hiring one of the best coaches to ever roam the girls basketball floors in KY (4 state titles, record 74 consecutive wins, over 80% win percentage), they have done that.

Roy is a great guy and obviously a terrific coach. These girls will work harder than they have ever worked, but if they are willing to do that, it will pay off quickly in the win/loss column.

My understanding is that he will be there 2-3 years to rebuild the program, then his possible successor may have also already been hired as an assistant. Not sure on her name, but understand that she was an excellent player for Bell County and LMU.

Congrats to Mr Coutras and the members of the SBD for getting the best coach for the job. How could you turn down one of the best coaches we have seen in teh state who lives in town and wanted the job? Easy, ... you don't!

The next few years will be very exciting times at North Laurel, that's for sure! It will really be interesting when Coach Bowling faces a former player of his in Konnie Snyder from South Laurel! What a trip that will be! :thumb:

Hey Les and Jim, ... I beatcha to it!!! ;) Okay, technically, Les had it in the paper, but still I beat you posting it on here!

Now, now....who told ya he was hired...geek!

Yep, you can read the BREAKING NEWS IN LAUREL COUNTY in the Times-Tribune TODAY.

Okay, you told me he was hired! I thought all along that he was the best choice for the job. Hopefully the girls will respond to the toughness he expects from his players.

One thing is for certain, ... Roy will let the players and parents know exactly where they stand. He says what he thinks whether others like it or not. I hope they understand that it is not because he doesn't care, ... trust me, he does. He just believes that being honest is the only way to move forward. I really do like this hire!

I'm anxious to know who the assistant is? Has to be one of the following if she's from Bell and LMU...Karra Jackson or Amanda Jackson? Probably Karra...she's a PE teacher in TN right now.

I thought I heard the first name was Kristen or something along those lines, but I am not sure. Jackson does sound familiar.

Did one of them set records for 3 pointers in HS or college? That may be the one.

I'm not aware of any records...they were both great players at Bell and LMU. Only recent players from Bell to play at LMU. There are others from Bell who went to other colleges and played. Parrott and Brock went to Union and maybe Woolum, and Jennifer Hilton went to Alice Lloyd...it wouldn't be her would it? Dudley Hilton's daughter? She or Brock who's the assistant at Bell would be the most logical, but neither played at LMU. I'm from Bell and am just curious as to who's moving to London.

No problem. As soon as I hear for sure, I will let you know! :thumb:
