Tough games this week .... Senior night Thursday. Thoughts?

What a great match to get to watch. Great volleyball on both sides, teams showed heart and NDA gutted out a nice win over a very good team. I was especially impressed with H. Talkers and N. Hardig. Both played very good. And the libero for Ursuline was one of the best I have seen all year.

Be prepared for Assumption because they will be ready!

As if beating Assumption once in a season isn't rare enough, when was the last time ND beat them twice in a season? I'll guess never. But who thought the Bengals would be 5-0, or that the Cubs would win a playoff series? Maybe this is ND's year too.

I'm concerned about NDA tonight. Tuesday night at UA in Cincinnati was a max effort and energy match and this is a quick turnaround that will require the same amount of energy.

 

Realistically, not sure if they have the legs. Morgan Hentz had 97 attack attempts and 40 digs Tuesday night according to MaxPreps. Add to that, UA sets their right sides more than most programs so that's a lot of block jumps. Nearest attack attempts behind Hentz was Knaley at 37.

These are good points but Morgan is a seasoned athlete with a lot of experience. She carried the load for her club team this past season and would play just as strongly on day 3 as she would on day 1. Hentz will

show up tonight. The bigger concern is the offensive output of the rest of the team.

 

Tonight is important but if NDA loses (And learns from the loss) it only helps when it matters in November. I know everyone is hyped up for this match but let's keep it in perspective- it's just another step in the journey.

Totally agree. Was actually thinking the same thing when I replied. The State Championship won't be won or loss on October 15th.

 

I don't see NDA as much as some on here, but I've walked away with the same opinion each time. High level ball control and defensive team with a setter that seems to execute their offense at a high level. I just think the use of the middles could improve to really take the next step. The easiest ball to block & defend in transition is a low/tight "1" ball. UA ran their offense a little slower in the middle and slightly off the net and their middles had a ton more range and pace. Quick note, the UA middles are of the same caliber athlete as NDA so its not about a talent gap. That is one solution or attack the "31" seem so a blocker has to get to base and then move to be a block presence. Just my 2 cents.
