Villa Madonna 3 Dixie Heights 2

21-25, 25-18, 19-25, 25-9, 15-13. Villa has beaten Dixie more than a couple of times over the last few years so this isn't a total surprise, but for a Dixie program that many posted was on the upswing and rebuilding, that's a bad loss. Dixie falls to 2-10.

Dixie has been on an upswing he past few years, but this season numbers are finally catching up to us. We have some young talent, (as in really young), but it will take most of the season to develop. Loosing our starting Middle and her younger sister (who was projected to play right side) hurt a ton. The Middle was actually a pretty complete player and would have played six rotations. We are struggling in the passing game first and foremost.

Correction, Dixie is 4-0 versus Villa the past two years.

And 1-5 the 4 years before that. I'm taking a Macro view.

you said "last few years"... my few was the last two, and a 2 point victory is hardly a statement. I agree its a bad loss, but in time I think Dixie will be alright. The freshman team is doing well and their is some talent being developed at the lower levels.

Polo..... This happened before Metzger, Long, and Coach Long (no relation), got to Dixie. I don't see it repeating very often in the near future. Dixie's problem at the moment is passing... once that passes :) everything will be alright.

Are you saying Dixie's problems get fixed this year, or some time in the future? Dixie is 2-10 so far with the people you mentioned and the season is rapidly heading south. I look at the upcoming schedule and I wonder where the wins are going to come from.

I'd be a fool to say that Dixie's problems will be fixed this season... I do think they will salvage a bad year and come in 1st or 2nd at the District Tourney and advance to Regionals. Passing is our Achilles heal at the moment. Eventually Matt Long will find or make a few adequate passers for us to be successful.

Dixie's problem has always been not having a complete team of dedicated girls. Coach Long is a really nice coach but unfortunately unless he can get a core group year after year that want to work hard it's an uphill battle for him. At the high school level you can beat good teams with a few solid players. VB is very much a team sport where you need everyone involved all the time.

Best of luck to Coach Long.
