LRCW
H.S. Football Preview (Lawrence Co.) — Bulldogs have license to skill (players) 1 Aaron Snyder / The Independent Joe Cecil didn’t lose any sleep over it, although it would’ve been perfectly justified. In this era of sport specialization, it’s typical for high school athletes to mull over a decision of whether or not to suit up prior to any particular season. Fortunately for Lawrence County’s coach, the basketball players who see-sawed throughout the offseason landed on the football field. “I’ll be honest, I didn’t worry too much about it,” Cecil said. “I know they were back and forth. At times, I’d think they were 100-percent in and (then) out. But the good Lord worked that out, and I just trusted them. I feel like I’m glad they’re out, and they give us really exceptional skill.” Quarterback Grant Kiser, also a roundball starter, is smitten with the reality of having weapons upon weapons around him. Among the dual-sport standouts are Timmy Dalton, Austin Chaffins and Brandon Richardson. All greatly figure into the double-wing belly option offense. “All I gotta do is throw it up, and Timmy goes and gets it,” Kiser said. “Same thing with Austin, really. Then, Luke Schaeffer at tight end. He can block and then he can run a 60-yard touchdown. So, yeah, we have a lot of weapons. “... That’s a lot of talent we were going to lose if they weren’t going to play,” Kiser added. “That’s a lot of talent we couldn’t really afford to lose.” H.S. Football Preview (Lawrence Co.) ?
