VANCEBURG It was not the ideal situation.

Lewis County senior quarterback Tommy Parks watched then-starter Isaac Weddington tear up just about everything in his left knee in the second half of a Sept. 19, 2014, game against visiting Powell County.

Parks finished the Powell County game (a 37-20 loss) and started the next two. This season, the 6-foot-1, 175-pound senior will run the

offense.

“It’s a little bit different, a bigger role than I’m used to,” Parks said.

Comparing Tommy to now and last season is like night and day. I really think he is ready to help lead this team to a few wins this season. Also, the Powell County game was a 37-20 win, not a loss.

Sounds like he has, at least, one new target to throw to this season. How is that aspect going to work out of the Lions?

The Lions have a few quick receivers to throw too, only thing hurting that is a lot of them are undersized. His only receving targets over 6' are freshman Zach Robersion (who may see some varsity time), sophomore Isaac Kelly (who will definitely see some varsity time), and junior TE Landon Stone (who stands about 6'4-6'5 250+ lbs). So there is some height in the receiving core, its just very inexperienced. Look for seniors Isaiah Esham, Austin Evans, Michael Lumpkins, and Gage Yates to also catch some passes. Evans also plays runningback.
