The Lady Birds celebrate Senior Day for Whitney Quillen with a convincing win over Ryle in 4 innings for their 20th win on the season. Before the Game summary, I just want to say a couple things about Whit... For me, it's been a pleasure to watch her play and just be around her. A great student, 4.4 GPA and even a better person. This kid works hard at whatever she does and has earned whatever accolades she has received and even the few she hasn't. The kid cheerleads (and will do so as well as play softball at Thomas More) next season. She also has been a member of the HHS Basketball team. But really, she has been a great role model for not only my DD but all that she surrounds herself with. I am proud that she is in her life. Just a great kid and I wish her nothing but the best... We still have her for hopefully a few more games and I'm glad I get to watch her for at least one more. Good luck in all you do and The Birds will miss you next season.

 

On to the game. Another good crowd at the Cage as quite a few students were in attendance. We also were blessed with our leader from last year, Kendall Turner in the bleachers.

 

Another gem by Bailey as she had 5 Ks 1 BB 0ER on 3 hits in 4 1/2 innings.

 

The Bird had their sticks working again tonight counting 13 runs on 13 hits. Coffey finally took my advice and decided to play hard and made some stellar plays at Short with a great diving snag to end one of the few scoring threats the Raiders had. TOTALLY KIDDING Coop!!! Sorry, Inside joke... I digress

Great night for the Bird's and really a pretty good week of some top notch teams. I think most might have been ok to win half of this weeks games but to win 5 of 6 and the one loss to NDA by 1 run was pretty respectable. Pretty proud of the ladies...

With the NKCA thing on horizon play2win29 how about some stats for the regular season! Should be impressive vs one of the toughest schedules in the 9th region. If Graybill doesn't win player of the year this year (last year was a bad deal) they need to scrap a broke system and start over. Yes that's just my opinion we will see who is POY and how many outfielders make first or second team? I think 1 outfielder made honorable mention last year.

4king I can understand your frustration and our stats are pretty good but we don't publish them individually until after the season. It may hurt for reasons like this but our goals are set as team goals. But I will say our Team BA was ,380 going into last night

That's a great team batting average, and you do keep a tight book! If I was doing book they would all be hitting .400 or better! :-). No wonder it seems like the girls are killing it top to bottom!

Sorry for putting you on spot didn't realize the policy. I am a TEAM guy before INDIVIDUAL everytime yet I think it is a compliment to the team when any individual has great stats because somebody has to be on base to get to 50 RBIs and somebody has to be hitting good behind you to see enough good pitches to hit 10 Dingers in a season!

 

I hope they all get first or second team tonight!

 

Shelby deserves to be named on state level and that's a tough list to get on especially from Northern Kentucky!
