Another pitchers duel in a Villa Madonna game. Villa threw Herbstreit who went 7 innings, giving up 3 runs 2 earned. He had 10Ks and 2 HBP. Holmes threw Denk who also went 7 innings giving up 1 run. He had 6 K's and walked 1 .

 

It was a very well played game by both teams.

Come on Crossbar (be nice:thumb: ), anytime Villa come close to winning a game, especially against a team of the size and tradition of Holmes, it is great for Villa. I am just surprised that Holmes scheduled Villa. Has Holmes slipped that much in baseball, that they need to play VMA to get a W?

Not really in fact I much would have rather been able to post a Villa win. But you cant dwell on a 3-1 loss. You;ve gotta keep your head up and keep playing... its baseball things like this are just part of the game. Not to mention... who doesnt love a dancing bannana. But anyway, you just have to keep pressing on, in my opinion a team who dwells on their losses never gets better and just ends up loosing more games. Baseball's a game of confidence. Without it you dont really have a whole lot.

Nice win for Holmes...while Villa may not be a powerhouse, they are usually competitive which is why Holmes schedules them...it helps both teams get better and build a little confidence

Whic is a very very good point... Villa has been run-ruled twice, once to St. Bernard (Ohio), the other was to St.Henry... both have been very good teams. All of Villa's other losses have been very close games in which we competed. Ludlow threw York in a 6-1 game. Bethel Tate (Ohio) 5-2, Beechwood 11-2, Newport threw Atkins in a 4-2 Game, and Homles in the 3-1 Game.... for a school of 180 kids and about 90 guys, Villa competes rather well against a lot of very solid northern kentucky teams. That Villa Stigma in Northern Kentucky is quite decieving. Especially when you consider all the games decided by 2 or so runs. With one big hit these games could have changed dramatically.

I'm sure Villa's coach doesn't care who they are playing, I'm sure he expects to win. He seems to be very competitive and the schedule usually reflects that.
