Apollo 2 Owensboro Catholic 1

Featured Replies

Nice win by the Eagles. Rex Gillium picked up the win, while Justin Marks took the loss. Catholic took the lead in the 4th with a double by Jared Johnson who later scored off another double by Neil Holland. The Eagles answered in the 6th (I think) with a walk to Jake Wells. He scored on a double by Richie Stanley. Stanley advanced to third, at which time Coach Mantooth called for the squeeze play which was executed by Logan Neal to score what turned out to be the winning run.

Sounds like my kind of game. Am I correct that these two seem to be the most likely contenders for the 3rd crown?

Most likely, although Daviess County has two really strong pitchers in Tyler Blandford and Jason Stroemer, so you never really know what could happen come tournament time. Owensboro Catholic is loaded both with pitching and hitting so the safe bet would be on the Aces. Either way as usual rest of the 3rd Region should have a tough time getting past the 9th District.
