2015 3rd Region Tournament Preview

Featured Replies

It’s that time again, Regional Tournament is here, and it happens all across the bluegrass. The 3rd region will be one of the best regional tournaments across the state as there is no favorite.

Favorite: Owensboro (24-4):

The Red Devils are the most hottest team in the 3rd region and have dominated just about everyone in their path.

Owensboro has 3 players averaging 15+ PPG. Aric Holman, Justin Miller and Dorion Marrow.

Close Behind:

Apollo (17-12):

The Eagles own a victory over the favorite, Owensboro and in fact is Owensboro’s first region loss on the season.

Eli Wright will be the guy who leads the Eagles in the region tourney. Eli comes in averaging 21.3 PPG.

Remaining Teams:

Breckinridge County (18-9):

The Tigers have won 6 straight and 8 of their last 10 games, however they were defeated by Owensboro, the team they will meet in round 1 of the 3rd region tournament, 66-56 earlier in the season.

The Tigers have two players averaging double figures in scoring in Cody Mingus and Benjamin Miller.

Meade County (15-10):

Despite being 15-10, The Tigers are 9-3 against region opponents but haven’t played McLean County, the team they will meet in the first round of the 3rd region tournament, yet.

Jacob Bewely, Josh Durbin, Calvin Hackert, Kase Mattingly are all averaging 11-12 PPG for the Green Wave

McLean County 10-15):

The Cougars have won 2 of their last 5 games but those two counted, as they won the 10th district with one of those wins being against Muhlenberg County in triple overtime.

McLean County and Meade County have not met yet but will in the first round of the 3rd region tournament.

The Cougars have 4 players averaging 4 players for them; Josh Kirk (10.3), Will Hudson (16.3), Jake Logsdon (11.9), Sam Miller (10.5)

Grayson County (18-10):

The Cougars own a 52-45 victory over Muhlenberg County, the team they will meet in the first round of the 3rd region tournament.

Talon Gary (15.5 PPG), Alex Shelhart (14.3 PPG) will be the two that leads this Cougar team.

Muhlenberg County (15-13):

Muhlenberg County had their 4 game win streak snapped at the hands of McLean County and it doesn’t get any easier as they have already lost once to Grayson County, the team they will meet in the first round of the 3rd region tournament.

Hunter Noffsinger is the Mustangs leading scorer at 16 PPG followed by Noah McElwain at 13 PPG.
