Mason Co comes to the Fort tonight and plays a good game. The final score doesn't reflect how close this game was. Mason takes a few tough shots that don't fall in the middle of the 4th and the game got away from them a little and then had to foul. I believe it was around a 4 point game to start the 4th.

Mason never had the lead, but got it to 3-4 points multiple times, to see HHS pull away each time. Mason plays hard and is disciplined on defense. They are skilled, quick and IMO, coached well. Every time number 10 shoots, you have the feeling it's going in. I really like her game. They started all sophomores tonight. And their PG went out with a minute into the game with a gash from an elbow. Heard it was pretty deep and nasty. Hope the young lady is okay. Mason will be a blast to watch play over the next couple years!

HHS looked a little sluggish again tonight. Almost like they are going through the motions. They do seem to pick it up a little on the weekend games and they have two big ones coming up! So I hope I'm right! HHS' passing was horrible tonight. Lazy passes. Passes to the defensive side of their player. Not meeting passes. Not catching them aggressively. Almost like they didn't care if it made it's destination or not. They need to get that addressed in a hurry! Leigh had a nice night tonight for the Birds. Also felt 8th grader Zoie Barth and PG Haley Coffey played a pretty good over all game tonight.

Good luck to Mason Co the rest of the way...they are fun to watch. Way to go Birds!

There freshman aau team from last year won 2 or 3 aau tourneys we were in, they have an outstanding group of sophmores. Congrats to the Birds.

Take the win and move on. This a real difficult time of year for basketball teams, with summer work outs,AAAU games these kids have been going at it for quite sometime and the battery is a little low. You see it in all levels of play,a lot of coaches will cut back on practice time in hopes of regaining that spark! I think the Birds will be fine, with the two tough games coming up the blood will start pumping and they will be ready to go. Good luck, hope I am right for your teams sake!

I agree. We have seen it. They don't seem to get up for the games that THEY don't feel are as important. Nothing against Mason Co because they almost showed them why they better stay focused, but it really is a game that means nothing and they are waiting for meaningful games. Last Friday with Ryle in town (a team they play a lot of AAU against and can be a threat in the 9th), they played with a lot more energy and seemed to be on their game. I just hope they can "turn it on" when the time is right. So far they have, but turning it off at times can cause some bad habits and that's what I saw last night with the passing. I think they will be fine too! Thank for talking me off the ledge!
