Henry Clay Junior, Robinson, Commits to Kentucky

 

The University of Kentucky football team added its fourth Class of 2016 recruiting commitment – and the third from a Kentuckian – on Wednesday night with the pledge of speedy Henry Clay High School cornerback Davonte Robinson.

As a sophomore, the 6-foot-1, 170-pound Robinson was last year's Class 3-A state track champion in the 100 meters (10.85 seconds).

He said the Wildcats recruited him "because of my speed, and they feel I can cover half the field myself. They say I have the speed and the height to do it. They think I can be a lockdown corner."

I like him a lot.

 

His game reminds me almost identically to Winston Guy's when he was in HS.

 

Not the most physical kid, but elite level speed, a nose for the football, and the ability to make the big play.

 

Think he may be ahead of Guy in maturity though... when Winston finally got his head on straight he became a very good player in the SEC and piggy backed that to a NFL career. really think the sky is the limit for Robinson if he can bulk up and improve his cover ability.
