2015 14th Region All "A" Classic

Recommended Posts

The 14th Region All “A” Classic is back once again. There is no permanent home for the classic until the semi-finals and finals, which will be head at Perry County Central High School in Hazard. Out of all the teams in this year’s All “A” classic, Jackson City is the only team that will already be in the semi-finals. Hazard and Leslie County will await the winners of the play-in games.

FAVORITE:

BUCKHORN:

John Noble and his Buckhorn Wildcats are the favorites to win the 2015 14th Region All “A” Classic. Buckhorn will come in at 8-4 overall and 6-1 against region teams, however, Buckhorn is 5-0 against teams participating in the all “a” classic.

Potential 2nd round matchup: Buckhorn vs. Leslie County. The Wildcats and Eagles met earlier this year at Buckhorn with Buckhorn winning an overtime thriller 66-65.

Buckhorn last won the 14th region all “a” classic in 2012.

CONTENDER:

HAZARD

The Bulldogs fell to Buckhorn 61-47 earlier in the year but demolished Leslie County, a team that came within a point of upsetting the Wildcats on their own home floor. Hazard is on a 3 game skid streak but never count out Coach Holland.

OUTSIDE LOOKING IN:

LESLIE COUNTY

The Eagles came within a point of upsetting Buckhorn, who is the favorite to win the 14th Region All “A” Classic this season, at Buckhorn. Leslie County started the season off strong but here lately they have hit a skid going 4-6 in their last 10 games.

JUNE BUCHANAN

First year head coach, Elisha Justice, former Shelby Valley star, is off to a great start with the Crusaders going 8-4 with one of the wins being over Letcher County Central. We’re halfway through the season and the Crusaders are just one win away from tying last year’s win total at 9. If the Crusaders play their cards right they just might find themselves playing in the semi-finals of the 2015 14th Region All “A” Classic but it won’t ‘be easy as a potential game with Hazard awaits them in the second round, if they get past Hazard then they could find themselves facing the favorites, Buckhorn, in the semi-finals.
