AARON SNYDER: Tigers rock state in style

Aaron Snyder / The Independent

About 15 hours — including four hours of sleep (2-6 a.m.) — following perhaps Paintsville football’s most amazing and unforeseen win in program history, Tigers coach Joe Chirico searched for words that best suited what had transpired.

He failed to find them.

I’m just glad I’m not alone.

As much as any wordsmith might labor, there literally may not be a perfect oratorical description of what happened on Friday.

The only three words Paintsville players have in mind are ones they’ve constantly uttered for two years — “we, not me.” The motto is hashtagged all over Twitter.

The only three words that draw an accurate picture of Friday night's result are these: region final ticket.

And, it’s not like you needed Bob Ross to paint you a vivid portrait of the matchup prior to kickoff!

Goodness, it was 62-8 Pikeville on Sept. 5!

Based on the first meeting, how much more of a foregone conclusion could it have been? There was no doubt in possibly anyone’s head outside of Paintsville that Class A second-ranked Pikeville would host either Raceland or Fairview in the third week of the playoffs.
