11th Region Final - Henry Clay against Paul Laurence Dunbar (Predictions)

Featured Replies

Who do you think will win a trip to NKY for a date with the 9th Region Champ?

Don't know much about either HC or PLD, but their area should dictate both have some talented players, go with Dunbar in a close competitive game.

If CCH advances where will the game be played? Assume SH would host at their own place?

Pretty much pick 'em. PLD's only KY loss came to HC a month ago. Should be a great game. I would think worthy of scouting for CCH/St Henry.

This is just an interpretation and not a statement of fact but based on what I see on KHSAA's RIHERD site they have it down as being held "at Region 9" per 2014 Kentucky High School Boys Soccer

I'm assuming this means in Region 9 and the field rules apply so I would assume that means either Tower Park or Ryle with the former being the best bet as it was the host of the Region 9 finals.

Speculation on my part.

Thomas Ueland (Notre Dame commit) did not play in HC's semifinal match against Madison Central. He suffered an ankle injury Monday night during HC's quarterfinal match.

If Ueland is healthy and able to play most of the match, I will go with HC by 1. Otherwise, Dunbar wins by 1.

The match will be hosted by Madison Central on a grass field that is not in good condition. The field has a severe slope on the side closest to the fan seating area and the quality of the surface has worsened as matches have been played this week. It is unfortunate that a match of this caliber cannot be played on one of the many quality turf surfaces in Central Kentucky.

Where are the finals being held? KHSAA has mandated that a regional field must be of a certain dimension. They should also mandate a certain surface, and IMHO it should be of the same surface that the finals are being played on.

The field is by the Madison County Head Start building. I believe it used to be used by Madison Central before their turf facility was built for the high school. I do not think Madison Central played at this site for their regular season matches this year. I understand that their turf field is not wide enough to comply with KHSAA standards. This field cannot be much wider than the turf facility.

The size requirements put in place this year is for the entire state.

Another option for the 9th Region Champ would be to play at NKU or Thomas More.
