oldgrappler Posted October 16, 2014 Posted October 16, 2014 Boone got their offense going early tonight and they kept the Conner defense busy. Boone was able to mount a consistent attack and pass around to get into position. The defense played very well and kept Benjamin out of the action for the most part. He did have a few shots on goal that he had to stop. Scoring went like this... Thamann header was touched by goalie but it spun through and into the net. Lucas Wheeler free kick all the way in front of the goal and Mayberry tapped it in. Boone 2-0 at half. Mayberry dribbled ball into the flat to the right of the goal. He passed the ball on the ground in front of the goal and found Thamann's feet. Thamann one touched it in. That's how it is supposed to look. Nice goal. Thanks to Boone twitter fee for scoring summary. Any Conner parents are welcome to add to my description so we get their side as well. All of their starters were juniors, except one senior (I think). Should bode well for next year. The field was a sloppy mess with several spots just plain muddy. My kid wound up in a mud puddle along the line early in the first half and played the rest of the game soaking wet and then added all game to the layers of mud caked on him. His legs turned gray as the mud dried on the way home. Mud head to toe. I don't expect conditions to be any better tomorrow night for the district championship against Cooper. But I can't complain--these sports (soccer and football) were meant to be played in the elements on natural grass. Artificial turf is so... artificial.
Yellow Card Posted October 16, 2014 Posted October 16, 2014 Congrats to Boone... should be a great final tonight!! Thanks for the update oldgrappler.
