Ram Posted October 13, 2014 Posted October 13, 2014 McKee, Devils run through Mason By ROCKY STANLEY The Independent FLATWOODS Mason County had Russell’s number in recent years. Friday night, all the numbers were on Russell’s side. The Red Devils outrushed the fifth-ranked Royals by more than 300 yards and rolled to a 38-7 victory in their Class 3A, District 6 showdown at rain-soaked Ivan McGlone Field. Elusive quarterback Jacob McKee accounted for two of Russell’s three scoring dashes of more than 60 yards as the Red Devils took a giant step toward securing their first district championship since 2007. “This was fun, playing in the mud and getting a great win,” said McKee, who had TD runs of 66 and 73 yards. “We knew coming in this was probably the biggest game of the year. We knew we had to take care of business.” The Red Devils did just, zooming out to a 19-0 lead in the first quarter. Russell went on to rush for 352 yards, while linebacker Landon Arnold led a smothering defensive effort that limited Mason County to 29 yards on 25 carries. “They really kicked our tails,” Royals coach David Buchanan said. “This was a big game, and Russell took it to us. They blocked very well and their defensive front played great. T. J. (Maynard) has done a great job of building on what Russell has done in the past.” Link

ATLCat Posted October 13, 2014 Posted October 13, 2014 It is weird seeing Russell with the Arizona State helmets. Used to the very traditional Devil look.
