Ram Posted October 13, 2014 Posted October 13, 2014 Ashland rushes for over 500 yards, beats Sheldon Clark 48-8 By ZACK KLEMME The Independent ASHLAND Ashland’s backs have enough speed and skill that they sometimes need little more than a crease to hit daylight. Quinton Baker, Jake Long and Co. got better than that on Friday, though. Couple their efforts with the Tomcats’ vastly improving offensive line, and the result is what Ashland did Friday night: rush for 503 yards and seven touchdowns in a 48-8 Senior Night shellacking of Sheldon Clark. Baker ran for 274 yards and three touchdowns, including a 99-yarder. Long added 144 yards and three TDs on just five carries. Backup quarterback Tate Dowdy provided the closing punctuation with a 1-yard scoring plunge as Ashland (4-3) won its third straight game to climb back over .500 after a 1-3 start. Baker and Long knew who to give the love to after their stirring performances. “Our line, (offensive line) coach (David) Arthur’s been pushing them real hard the past couple of weeks, and he’s been getting them right,” Baker said. “And it shows out here on Friday nights.” Added Long: “Our line’s doing a whole lot better, and that’s really the main goal, is improve the line game and just prove (doubters) wrong.” Link
75center Posted October 13, 2014 Posted October 13, 2014 What, can't pass the ball???? Seriously, that is some impressive running. And blocking.
Ram Posted October 13, 2014 Author Posted October 13, 2014 What, can't pass the ball???? Seriously, that is some impressive running. And blocking. I think it safe to say, Ashland's rushing game is much ahead of it's passing game. But, I guess they took the approach of "do it until they stop it" and Sheldon Clark never stopped it.
