St Henry 1 Holy Cross 0

I believe this was Senior Night at SHDHS, glad the boys got a win in this one.

Glad to see they got the win and even better when a little-used Senior scores the winning goal! Goal by Brian Fiedler about 10 minutes into the first half for the only goal of the game. St. Henry again rattled the frame a few times, but couldn't put another in the back of the net.

I will point out that it was a well-played clean game. A couple of yellow cards, but they were isolated incidents from hard fouls with one going to each team. Game never got chippy and there didn't seem to be any animosity between players. Since there is rarely any praise for the refs, I need to say that they did a good job last night. Game was called relatively consistently and no major missed calls. Great to see after the debacle that was the last game against Brossart!

It was a good game. Nice decision by the St. Henry coach to keep players who normally don't start, and usually get little playing time, on the field most of the game. After the St. Henry goal Holy Cross played defensively all night. Constantly crowding the Crusader forwards. It worked for them. They succeeded in blocking several good, close chances by St. Henry.

I must add, the center ref and linesmen were good last night. It all added up to what seemed like a great Senior night for St. Henry.
