Cooper had a nice, 3-1, win to earn the Cardinal Cup, I will say that the boys had to fight for this one, it was a battle. Most say that NCC and Bishop Brossart are two of the more physical teams in our area, and I would agree, last night Boyd County far exceeded this. It was very interesting to watch, they did not play this physical when they matched up against Bishop Brossart on Tuesday night, I was glad to see that Cooper did not let this detract from what they wanted to do. And the refs... nevermind... I better not go there.

Ross got Cooper on the board about 15 minutes into the match by blasting a header inside of the post off a really nice cross from O'Brien. Just a few minutes later, Snow got free in the corner and whipped a ball across the six that found the waiting foot of Ross. Shortly after this, Ross had to leave the match due to a hard tackle from behind. Later in the half, Boyd County was able to pull within a goal by playing a nice ball across the field that just required their forward to redirect it.

To start the second half, Snow was moved to the middle and O'Brien shifted up top as Ross remained on the sideline, most of the second half was well played by both squads... each 50/50 ball was contested as if it was the last minute of a tied match. Cooper was able to control the middle of the field for the majority of the second half and kept Boyd County at bay by doing so. After nursing some injuries, Cooper was able to get everyone back on the field for the last portion of the match. With about 5 minutes left, Snow won a ball at midfield, turned... and played a through ball to a streaking Ross who then proceeded to bury it in the side net to put the match away.

Cooper placed 4 players on the All-Tournament Team
