Black, Carloftis feeding need to coach

LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. — Some of the biggest holes North Laurel needed to fill after last season weren’t on the field, they were on the sideline. Three assistant coaching vacancies left Chris Larkey without three important pieces. Defensive coordinator Shane Sams left coaching and teaching to pursue other professional interests.

 

Dackery Larkey, the coach’s brother, is currently enrolled in the Kentucky State Police Academy. Bill Carson retired after 32 years of coaching in the Laurel County School System.

 

How do you replace that much experience? Larkey found it in a former head coach Jim Black and longtime friend Dusty Carloftis.
