Sophomore pitcher Evan Slone led Ludlow at the plate, going 3-for-4 with six RBI, while also improving to 4-1 on the mound. Senior third baseman Jerad Howard went 3-for-5 with three RBI for the Panthers. Senior first baseman Brian Brownfield was 2-for-4 with four RBI

Ludlow subbed very early and gave up their at bat in the 5th inning. Slone pitched 3 shut out innings and was followed by a JV pitcher. Weather permitting they play a double header against Holmes and Nicholas County tomorrow.

 

I give props to the Dayton players, coaches and their families. I can tell this has been a tough year for them. As a Ludlow parent, we have many of those years as well, in multiple sports. It's tiring mentally and physically. Dayton had 9 players and a couple of coaches who played and coached until the end of the game, my hat off to them.

I didn't see this one, but heard Dayton literally only had nine players dressed ( some maybe 7th and 8th graders). Much respect to those players and coaches for giving it their best.

I was at the game and I will say the Dayton players never gave up. Since they are such a young team if they stay together they will be a team to watch out for in a couple years. I was sorry to hear their senior Brockman hurt his shoulder and will be out the rest of the season what a bad break to end your senior year.

Coach Fussinger and his staff coached every play to the very end. Kids at Dayton are lucky to have a coaching staff that cares about them like they do. Dayton is young and will be better next year because of the coaching they received and the hard work put in this year.

Kudos for those kids for sticking it out through a rough time. Ludlow showed a ton of class also. They actually pitched a kid the last 2 innings to try and get Dayton some good swings and at bats. Someday it could be the opposite with Ludlow being very young.

I've never seen a small school make such an improvement in just one season as Ludlow has this year. They are 12-8... Literally could have easily won their games against Dixie, Scott, Bellevue, St Henry and Lloyd... Could you imagine a 17-3 record right now?! Just goes to show how hard Coach Gray, his staff and the kids have been working. Point is: if Ludlow can do it...Dayton can do it. They just have to hang in there and keep working hard.
