Lawhorn goes 3 solid innings, Ludwig 1 and Hawthorn closes it out. Luis "Big Papi" Burgos hits first career HR and it was a GRANNY! Both teams played limited starters.

Cooper is a solid team. St H apparently wasn't afraid to play Cooper tonight, especially knowing they were playing their biggest district competitor, Dixie tomorrow. So hats off to St H. and to Cooper for getting some needed field time and the win. Better team won and both teams got to play some unexpected players that deserve much needed play/field time!

 

Can't say that for teams who elected to pass over Cooper for ????. Exactly!! Saving pitchers, players, etc.; all NKY HS coaches knew their schedule going into the season. Not acceptable in my book, unless your field is unplayable and or, you've exceeded your games played for the year, which has not happened to date that I'm aware of. Apparently the system is broke to allow this to happen.

 

Who steps in to enforce the HS "agreed to" schedule? Why and how do we allow coaches to elect "not to play" teams based on their convenience? Does this happen in football and or basketball? I don't think so!! The teams not getting to play due to, what I call: "coaches convenience" ultimately loose their rhythm - pitchers, fielders and hitting. Is this right? NO! Lets face it, the coaches are doing because there is "NO" enforced penalty for not playing to their original "agreed to" HS team schedule? My opinion: enforce some type of costly penalty, i.e. = loss of seeding for their district and region. Thoughts please!
