2nd Region Draw

Featured Replies

Yes, for awhile. Madisonville hosted the district from 1937-1962...with 1947 being the only exception (Dawson Springs.) Then, West Hopkins hosted it 1963-72. After that, Madisonville and West alternated years until the demise of the Rebels.

Interestingly, the first five years of that West Hopkins run (1963-67,) Madisonville wasn't nearly the best team in the district...going a combined 7 games under .500 during that span. Then Don Parson arrived...and the scenery changed quickly.

Speaking of which, Coach turns 76 Thursday.

Hoptown is an easier drive for the region except for Henderson, Madisonville, Webster and Union Counties. It's the same drive, and in some ways a tougher drive to madisonville from Crittenden county (who rarely plays in the regional tournament) and it's easer to get to hoptown from trigg, Lyon, and Livingston. 50/50 for caldwell The advantage for Christian County is that you have the I-24 towns in the west and the Pennyrile parkway towns to the north who have a direct 4 lane route. To get to madisonville from eddyville and, Cadiz, and Livingston County is a bigger headache to get to than from henderson to Hoptown. That's just my opinion. Both are fine. Hoptown's gym is the best IMO.

I agree about Tiger Gym. Love the balcony at each end that gives one an overall perspective you can't get any place else.
