Inside 14th Region (2/23/14)

Featured Replies

1. Knott County Central (20-6):

The Patriots ended the regular season, playing only one game, against Shelby Valley. The Patriots wouldn’t have a problem with the Wildcats as they rolled to a 73-61 victory. Camron Justice led the way with 28 points. Evan Hall added a double-double with 22 points and 10 boards.

The Patriots will now prepare to face the winner of June Buchanan and Jenkins in the first round of the 53rd district tournament.

2. Cordia (22-7):

Much like Knott County Central, the Cordia Lions played just one game in the final regular season week of the 2013/14 season and it was a big one, against the Perry County Central Commodores. Cordia would pull out a 63-53 victory over the Dores making a statement for the 14th region.

Cordia will now face off against Letcher County Central in the first round of the 53rd district tournament.

3. Perry County Central (20-7):

The Commodores went 1-1 in the final regular season week of the season, picking up a 40 point win over Jackson County 89-49, who some will say could be the favorite of the 13th region tournament. The Commodores would make their way to little ole Cordia to face off against the Lions in the final regular season game of the 2013/14 season. It’s a game that the Commodores would like to forget as they’d fall to the Lions 63-53.

Perry County Central will now get ready to face off against Buckhorn in the first round ofthe 54th district tournament.

4. Hazard (23-6):

The Bulldogs would end the regular season on a 4 game win streak, winning all 4 games that got played last week. The Bulldogs got things started off with a 44-40 win over Shelby Valley. They would carry that momentum on over to the next 3 games where they defeated Jenkins 72-41, Breathitt County 76-50 and Powell County 90-73.

The Bulldogs will now prepare to face off against Leslie County in the first round of the 54th district tournament.

5. Breathitt County (21-8):

The Bobcats ended the regular season week going 3-1, picking up victories over Harlan County 81-55, Owsley County 56-34 and Riverside Christian 81-79. The Bobcats loss came to Hazard, 76-50.

Breathitt County is now set to face off against Jackson City in the first round of the 55th district tournament.

6. Buckhorn (20-7):

The Wildcats continued to their hot ways last week picking up 3 wins, defeating Letcher County Central 70-66, Jenkins 88-47 and Powell County 85-79 in overtime. Buckhorn is hot at the right time, on a 10 game win streak with their last loss coming to the team they face in the first round of the 54th district tournament, Perry County Central 89-77.

7. Estill County (18-10):

The Cougars ended the regular season week on a good note, going 2-1 in the final week. The Cougars picked up victories over Pike County Central 55-44 and Oneida Baptist Institute 81-62. The Cougars fell to Buckhorn 70-66 for their only loss of the week.

Letcher County Central will now prepare to face Cordia in the first round of the 53rd district tournament, a team they fell to earlier in the season 69-68 in double overtime.

9. Wolfe County (15-10):

The Wolves ended the 2013/14 regular season week with 2 wins to extend their win streak to 3 games. The Wolves defeated Powell County 66-48 over in Stanton and defeated Lee County 80-50 over in Campton on senior night for the Wolves.
