1.Pike County Central stuns Betsy Layne but falls to Pikeville

The Hawks played just two games last week but they were big games. Pike County Central welcomed in Betsy Layne into Pike Central High School and in a big upset Pike County Central stunned Betsy Layne 44-40.

 

Pike Central would welcome in district opponent and rival Pikeville. Game would be a back and forth battle with Pikeville winning on a jumper at the buzzer by Ryder Johnson.

 

 

2.East Ridge upsets Shelby Valley, improve to 7-8

East Ridge pulled off an upset of their own when they knocked off Shelby Valley 44-43. East Ridge would also beat South Floyd 65-38 but the Warriors would fall to Magoffin County 62-53.

 

 

3.Pikeville defeats Pike Central on buzzer beater, improve to 7-14

Pikeville made the trip over to face district opponent Pike Central. Game would go back and forth before Pikeville’s Ryder Johnson hit the game winning jumper at the buzzer. Pikeville also beat Allen Central 79-60. Pikeville would lose two games however, to Shelby Valley 52-36, Sheldon Clark 71-61.

 

 

4.Johnson Central goes 1-1, improve to 12-6

The Golden Eagles were on a 7 game winning streak coming into last week and they would continue that winning streak to 8 games by defeating Belfry 70-54, however the Golden Eagles would have that streak snapped in the KY Prep Showcase by falling to 14^th region’s Breathitt County 65-60.

 

Johnson Central big man Shane Hall sit out both the Belfry and Breathitt County games due to flu.

 

 

5.Sheldon Clark wins 3 straight improve to 14-5

The Cardinals picked up three wins last week, defeating Paintsville 62-55, Pikeville 71-61, Phelps 68-57.
