Quite a few JR's on Dixie's JV team??

Quite a few JR's on Dixie's JV team??

I read in another thread that 3 or 4 JR's were moved down to JV to get additional PT.

Quite a few JR's on Dixie's JV team??

3 to be exact... CovCath has at least 2... so, does that constitute "quite a few??"

Dixie:

• Henry Kerns

• Matt Isbel

• Brian Strong

CovCath

• Matthew Shumate (by far their best player)

• The kid who played some backup PG (don't know his name)

It was nice meeting you last night! :thumb:

Matt Isbel, Brian Strong, Henry Kerns and Devonte Williams are the ones I'm aware of.

Didn't you mean 4 instead of 3?

I believe what CC was talking about, was moving kids down to just play in this Tourney and I have no idea one way or the other nor care but that is what I assumed he is thinking about as you mentioned in your post: moved down to play now! :idunno:

Dixie JV is scheduled to host CovCath this Wednesday (tomorrow) at 7:30. If that time gets bumped (due to weather), then they will play Saturday at 11:00 (again, at Dixie).

Dixie's JV has had some of the varsity guys who were not getting enough minutes playing now, so I think they have a good chance to make some noise in this tourney.

Shumate I believe (without looking it up) has missed three or four JV games (VonHandorf dressed and played a couple of games when Shumate didn't dress for the JV those nights) and Lyons doesn't dress varsity!

I do think that 3 is a lot, don't know if I seen that many on a JV team before.

If these players have been splitting squads all season then I doubt anybody has any beef. On the other hand, if they haven't played JV until the tournament commenced -- well, if more than one team is doing it I assume nobody is breaking any rules, but it doesn't seem quite kosher.

The entire JV phenomenon is odd in general, at least in this part of the country.

@ TOG... it was a pleasure meeting you too!

Dixie only had 3 JRs playing... Devonte Williams is only a Soph.

Dixie did not bring them down just for this tourney... they were moved down to get minutes weeks ago... had nothing to do with the tourney.

3 Jrs playing JV is not "a lot" -- I've seen a lot more on different teams before. Its really just a numbers game. Dixie tried to have 2 distinct split squads this season, with no real movement between the 2 teams. But there were just too many kids on the varsity team to make playing time available for all of them, so those 4 in particular were moved down to get them court time. I personally think there were too many kids kept on the JV team out of the sophomore class... as well as too many kids on the varsity. To me it seems like politics and trying to make too many parents happy... which never works out in the end.
