The Road to the All A State Championship begins in Frankfort for 5 hopeful 11th Region squads. Frankfort High is hosting the event, which begins Tuesday, January 21st, and lasts until a champion is crowned Saturday night at 8 p.m.

Game 1: Frankfort vs. Lexington Christian Academy – Tuesday @ 8 p.m.

The Frankfort Panthers kick things off by hosting a red-hot Lexington Christian Academy Eagles squad on Tuesday at 8 p.m.

The winner of this game will move on to play Model Laboratory School (Richmond, KY).

Game 2: Sayre vs. Berea – Wednesday @ 8 p.m.

The Sayre Spartans face off with the Berea Pirates in the first semifinal.

Game 3: Model Laboratory vs. Winner of Game 1 (Frankfort/LCA) – Thursday @ 8 p.m.

The Model Patriots pulled off the upset of Lexington Christian Academy in the championship game of this tournament one year ago.

Standing in the way of that, however, is likely to be an angry Lexington Christian squad, most of which played in last year’s game and still feel the sting of that loss. Rest assured that the Eagles are unlikely to overlook the Patriots this year, as this one will be about vengeance.

Game 4: Winner Game 2 vs. Winner Game 3 – Saturday @ 8 p.m.

The winner of the Sayre/Berea game will square off against the winner from the upper bracket Frankfort/LCA/Model in the final.

The winner of this showdown will move on to the Frankfort Convention Center, where they’ll face off with the champions from Region 16 in a first round match-up on Thursday, January 30th at 8:30 a.m.

I wouldnt sleep on Frankfort. They are starting to figure out what Coach Barton is wanting. Will not be an easy out.

Thanks. I'd like to know more about them. Anything you can provide would be great.

They are led by PG Jalen Washington (JR) and Anthony Robinson (Soph.). But lately the starting 5 all are averaging right at 10 points per game. Defensively they are pretty solid. There are times they struggle to score but I think it has to do with being tired. Their weakness is only going 6-7 deep.

Starters

Jeff Quire - JR - 6'4 Forward

Travis Skelton - JR 6'2 Guard

Anthony Robinson - Soph. 6'4 Forward

Mathew Smith - soph- 6'1 Guard

Jalen Washington - JR - 5'10 - Guard

Thanks for the information. Admittedly, they weren't a team I knew much about.

How many of those kids played football? I can definitely see them taking some time to get their legs under them and to hit their peak if they had a few contributors who went deep into the postseason with the football squad.

All but 2 are football players. Frankfort has struggled early because December has been their Oct. and November. They are about where a team would be at mid december. I think by district tournament time they could suprise some folks.

That would explain quite a bit.
