Breds full court press was "relentless", although it was only a 5 point game at the half (25-20). George does a nice job of rotating players and is blessed with tons of team speed. NewCath scores only 1 pt. the last 5 minutes of this. Looking forward to Richard Skinners report of this one.

NewCath blows-out 10th Region power Montgomery County

The Newport Central Catholic girls’ basketball team is starting to show it’s a major contender for the Ninth Region championship this season and the most recent proof of that came Friday night when it dismantled the best team in the 10th Region for almost the last decade.

NewCath used a 26-2 second-half run to pull away from Montgomery County and post a 58-33 victory at NewCath. It’s the sixth straight win to start the season for NewCath, which has won all six games by at least 12 points.

Montgomery County (4-3) has won eight of the last nine 10th Region championships, including the last three in a row, and returned three starters from last year’s regional title team, but after closing within 32-27 early in the second half was no match for NewCath the rest of the way. Over the final 13 minutes the Thoroughbreds held Montgomery County to 2 of 12 shooting from the field and forced eight turnovers.

WOW!!!1

I've seen NCC a couple of times this year and I just don't see any weaknesses in this team. They have speed / great ball handling /great outside shooting / tremendous pressing team / dominate inside play/ they can't be pressed and they are very deep. If they stay focused I think they will be making some real noise not only in the All A but in the Sweet Sixteen. I would not want to play this team come tournament time.
