Ohio County (25-8): Ohio County won the third region last year defeating Owensboro Catholic 49-38 in the regional championship game. Ohio County would go on to the KHSAA Sweet 16 where they opened up with region 1 winner, Graves County. Things didn’t go as planned for the Eagles of Ohio County as they would fall to Graves County 74-60, ending their season.

 

Ohio County lost two of three top scorers from last year but return some more good talent from last year’s team that should make things interesting for them in the third region in 2013/14.

Owensboro Catholic (15-19): Owensboro Catholic stunned Breckinridge County (22-8) in the semi-finals of the third region to advance to the third region championship game where they lost to Ohio County 49-38.

 

Owensboro Catholic returns the majority of their team from a year ago that should make for a better 2013/14 basketball season then 2012/13 turned out to be.

Breckinridge County (22-8): One of the best teams in the third region last year was ousted in the semi-finals by Owensboro Catholic in double overtime to Owensboro Catholic 70-69. This was the second straight double overtime game in the third region tournament for Breckinridge County. They defeated Muhlenberg County in the opening round 77-74 in double overtime.

 

With Breckinridge County losing all their top scorers from last season, 2013/14 season looks like rebuilding mode for the Fighting Tigers.

Butler County (20-12): Butler County got a thrilling win over Grayson County 60-59 for the 12^th district championship, however that would be short lived as Butler County would bow out to Owensboro Catholic in the first round of the third region tournament 69-55.

 

With Butler County graduating most of the scorers from last year, 2013/14 looks like it will be a rebuilding year for the Bears.

Meade County (10-21): Meade County got a thrilling 1 point win over Hancock County 48-47, in the first round of the district tournament to advance to the regional tournament. Meade County would lose the district championship to Breckinridge County 70-60 and lose their first round region tournament game to Owensboro 65-45, ending their season.

 

Meade County graduated their top scorer and rebounder, Bryce Garris (16.4 ppg, 4.5 rpg) but return some talent from last year’s team that should make for a decent season for Meade County.

Muhlenberg County (11-20): Muhlenberg County lost a thriller of a game in the first round of the third region tournament last year to Breckinridge County 77-74 in double overtime, ending their season.

 

Muhlenberg County lost their top scorer and rebounder from last season in Dakota McKinney who averaging 26.7 ppg and 11.3 rpg so with not much returning from a year ago, it looks like it will be rebuilding for the Mustangs.

With everyone Apollo returns, including the #1 player in the third region, Eli Wright, they should be in for a good season that could possibly be in the third region tournament. Apollo also returns #7 player in the third region, Sam Sergenant.

Daviess County (17-13): Daviess County saw their season come to an end last year in the first round of the 9^th district tournament to Owensboro Catholic 59-50.

 

Even though Daviess County graduated their top scorer and rebounder in Logan O’Bryan who averaging 18.8 points per game and 10.8 rebounds per game last season, Daviess County does return one of the top pre-season players, Tim Bicknell who averaging 11 points last season along with several other good players that should make up for the loss of Logan O’Bryan and help Daviess County have a good season that could possibly see them in the third regional tournament.
