Final pick: Caldwell County over Newport Central Catholic.

 

Potential road block: Caldwell County should make it to the semifinals with relative ease and likely would host the winner of a potential third-round game between DeSales and Christian Academy. There doesn’t look to be any team in the bottom half of the bracket (Somerset maybe?) that can keep NewCath from reaching the final again.

 

Dark horse: Glasgow (9-1) could give DeSales fits in the second round and then could host Christian Academy in the third round. If the Scotties put it all together, they could be heading to Caldwell County for the semifinals.

 

Best first-round matchup: Bardstown (8-2) at Green County (5-5) and Somerset (5-4) at Betsy Layne (9-1) look to be two evenly matched games on paper.
