This is a rematch from week 2, when Caldwell County beat Union County 57-20 in the Warrior Bowl in Marion at Crittenden County. Since that matchup, Union County has been headed in the right direction, having won all of their games since then except for a 27-26 loss to Owensboro Catholic. The Tigers are simply wanting to win this matchup, and keep their train moving toward Bowling Green.

Union County is lead by Davis Joiner, their QB. His numbers are 75 0f 153 for 1,268 yards, 13 TDs and 2 INTs. He is also a threat to take off, as he ihas rushed 86 times for 447 yards and 10 TDs. Their leading rusher is Heath Onan who has 93 rushes for 1,270 yards and 17 TDs. They have 4 receivers that have between 14 and 21 receptions.

Caldwell County is lead by Elijah Sindelar, who is 161 of 251 for 2,791 yards, with 40 TDs and 5 INTs. Jaylen Boyd will be back this week to rush for the Tigers. Eli Pepper, the Tigers' 6'9" receiver leads the way with 32 recptions for 827 yards and 11 TDs.

My prediction:

Caldwell County 51

Union County 21

Watch for Union Co. to start holding your WR's. Catholic got up 27-0 and not one time did they call a pass interference or holding on the D in the 2nd half. Got Union back in the game. Caldwell should roll. Once they get up on them Union will quit.

Their coach was quoted in the Henderson Gleaner saying "IF the refs call it so be it, but our adjustment was to hold their receivers"

They were holding our receivers too, in the 1st meeting. That could be trouble.

Caldwell didn't play well the first time the two teams met and still won 57-20.

I saw the film of the OCath game with the blatant holding on Union that was never called. Funny thing was, OCath got called for pass interference a couple of times on what looked like clean plays. I'm never really sure what high school football officials are watching during the game.

Union may want to worry more about holding Caldwell's running backs. The Tigers ran for 388 yards the first time the two teams played.

And, strangely enough, a Union team that likes to run the football, had much more success passing against Caldwell the first time. Union had just seven yards rushing but threw for 353. Union also picked off Sindelar twice in that game.

I think Union's best chance would be to get Caldwell on a muddy field, but the weather forecast looks pretty dry this week.

I'll say Caldwell 70, Union 28.

Although Caldwell started slow against Union the first time, in Marion, they didn't play all that bad the rest of the way. Yes, there were some careless mistakes made against a team that Caldwell felt pretty comfortable beating. Most teams will find that running the ball against Caldwell is not a very good idea. I think most would agree that the defensive secondary for Caldwell is their weak spot, if there is one.

Union has improved over the year, but I think Caldwell wins easily in this one. The score will not be as high as most think due to the running clock, and Caldwell's conservatism with a lead that dominates the latter stages of every game. I say Caldwell wins 52-14.
