The Purples have won 11 straight in the series and have not fallen to the Trojans since 1985. You have to go back to 1984 for the only time the Trojans won at El Donaldson Stadium. To say the series has been lopsided since then is a gross understatement. In their last 10 meetings the Purples are averaging 50.2 PPG and have no scored less than 39 points in any of those meetings. Meanwhile the high water mark for the Trojans in those games is 10 points, that coming in 1998. Since becoming district foes in 2007, the Trojans have not scored more than 6 points and have been shut out twice, including a 58-0 loss last year in Glasgow.

 

This year, the Purples have not scored less than 39 points in any game of their 4-0 start and of course have the 34 game winning streak. Their last game was one of the toughest of that streak, a come from behind 40-36 win on the road in Chattanooga against McCallie School. That game was their first against an out of state opponent since 1994. To date the Purples have allowed an average of 22.25 PPG - a figure that you should expect to go way, way, WAY down in the next 4 games. Last year they completed the regular season district slate without allowing a point and it is certainly possible possible - if not expected - that they will do it again.

 

The Trojans for their part are still tracking the same as last year, a victory in the season opener and then losses in each game after. They will simply try to weather the storm coming this week before trying their luck in a more winnable game against Greenwood.
