Basketball season for 2013/2014 should provide another exciting year. What should we expect from

Harlan County? Remember, please be constructive.

There's going to be lots of scoring and rebounding to replace with the departure of Brewer, Sargent, Caldwell, and Massengale. IMO, Junior-to-be Tyler Miller will have to be the man, and in a big way, next year. I've heard good things about their JV squad, but how their experience there translates to the Varsity level remains to be seen. As of today, their only real proven quantity at the varsity level is Miller, and the type of role he'll probably be expected to take on next year is vastly different from the one he had this past season.

 

Mentally, I wonder about whether this year's loss to Clay County in the regional final is something that will effect this new group going forward. In ways, I can see it being something that pushes and motivates them, in others, I could see it putting doubt in their minds when they next get the opportunity to try and get over the hump against them in postseason play. This year, one of their biggest questions was whether or not they could get over the mental hurdle of not having won a regional game. That test was passed, but they eventually lost the regional final on their home floor to Clay County, whether that is motivation and a "work left unfinished" attitude or something that continues to haunt them might still be up in the air.
