Christian Academy-Louisville 2013/2014

Featured Replies

Basketball season for 2013/2014 should provide another exciting year. What should we expect from Christian Academy- Louisville? Remember, please be constructive.

If it's been said once, it's been said a hundred times: CAL is Louisville's biggest victim of geography. They're stuck in the 28th District with Ballard and Eastern and seem to be stuck in third place. This past year, with a solid team loaded with seniors and a down Eastern squad, was their big shot and they fell just five points short in the district semifinals.

If my counting serves, CAL has been the No. 3 seed in the 28th District Tournament for eight consecutive years. They've lost to the No. 2 seed all eight times. This isn't said to slight CAL. On the contrary, those two-seeds were some OUTSTANDING teams from Eastern, Ballard and Jeffersontown. It's just to illustrate how tough it's going to be for CAL to make the leap to the next level.

What's going to make that harder is that they lost their two leading scorers -- Logan Wade (15.1 ppg) and Sawyer Hobbs (13.0 ppg) -- to graduation.

It'll be a battle to see whether they can guard that three seed from Kentucky Country Day and avoid the first-round district game against Ballard.
