Ballard 11 Owensboro Catholic 1 (Ballard Tournament Final)

Recommended Posts

Stopped in at Ballard to catch the Softball Tournament:

Championship Game (5 innings):

Ballard 11

Owensboro Catholic 1

Ballard team hit 3 deep bombs out of the park in the 4th inning and it felt like 35 degrees outside. Ballard lost to Owensboro Catholic 1-2 on Friday and came back on Saturday to win 3 games and take the title, and rode the back of an 8th grade pitcher in all 3 Saturday games.

High Quality Tournament with 6 excellent teams:

Ballard

Owensboro Catholic

Boyle County

Fern Creek

Bowling Green

North Laurel

Who is the 8th grade pitcher? Did OC throw the same girl against Ballard in both games?

I don't have a player on either team and unfortunately can't help you with the player's names...

The Ballard pitcher was number #2 and went the distance, the OC pitcher was #3 and left the game after the 3rd home run in the 4th inning. Three players that really stood out were the OC IF at SS #22 (excellent all-around player), the Ballard catcher #44 ( HR, best HS catcher I have seen in many years) and the Ballard IF at 2nd (played the best 2nd that I have seen at the HS level period).

Hope this helps.

So farbeyonddriven who are these girls?

Okay - I found the websites on Google, both very good sites:

http://www.owensborocatholicsoftball.org/

#22 SS Murphy 2013 excellent player, no mention of commit but she can help a lot of college programs.

Ballard Fastpitch Softball Louisville Kentucky - Ballard Fastpitch Softball Louisville Kentucky

#44 C Hull 2015 South Carolina commit...that explains it, one of the best I have seen at C.

#12 2B Parker 2016...stand by my comment, best I have seen at 2B.

Looks like Alexis Hull and her pitcher who is going to University of Tennessee both play for the TN Fury out of Chattanooga TN, very impressive for a high school team. The TN fury is a first class org.

Not familiar with OCath SS, but their best player is Lillie Goetz 2015, she probably played 2B or 3B. Ballard has two D1 commits, Jessica Adell 2014 OF to Tennessee and Alexis Hull 2015 C to South Carolina. My two girls have played with Hull, against Adell, and Hannah currently plays with Lillie Goetz, has for 4 years now. Adell and Hull both play in the TN Fury organization, and Lillie plays with Hannah on the Louisville Lady Sluggers 18u Gold.

Thanks sounds like they all have a bright future. Saw a picture of Hull she looks like she is already in college. Would love to see them play.

Found out this evening that the 2016 Ballard 2B #12 moved in from Southern California...that explains it. Best I have seen at 2B in HS and fastest kid on the field. With that much next level talent on the Ballard team, I definitely hope to catch a few more games.

I bet that family was in for a culture shock when they moved to KY and saw the level of softball compared to So Cal. Any word on who she intends to play summer ball with. Wouldn't be surprised if she found a way to stay with her team in Cali.

  • 2 weeks later...

Don't think she is straight from SoCal. If she's the one I'm thinking of, I was told she moved here in like 5th or 6th grade from CA, but also lived in CO before moving here. Nice player regardless of where she is from, and will probably do well at Ballard. Don't know where or if she plays travel. Jones is big on keeping his HS team together in the summer as the Diamonds, so that may be a possible answer.
