The Knoxville Lacrosse Festival is a traditional season starting event for many Kentucky high school teams.

Tates Creek

Lexington Catholic

Lafayette

Male

Ballard

 

Hopefully the weather will hold out.

As of midafternoon Ketucky varsity teams are undeated.against Tennessee teams.

 

Very good show by Kentucky teams.

Saturday's games were scrimmages using 20 minute running clock.

 

Sunday's games are full games and count toward LAX Power ratings.

 

 

As indicated above the Kentucky teams did very well. Most games are Kentucky vs. Tennessee. No games are against home state schools and there are a few teams from South Carolina that come in.

 

LexCath beat West Knoxville 5 - 2 and Hendersonville 7 - 2.

Lafayette won both of their games beating West Knoxville 6 - 3.

Dunbar beat traditional power Farragut 8 - 0 and then lost against 5 - 4 against Webb.

Louisville Christian Academy won their early games and beat Web 6 - 3.

Tates Creek beat Farragut in their early game.

Louisville Male had won their early games.

 

As a rough measuring stick it appears that Kentucky high school lacrosse is gaining not only in numbers but also skill and talent.

LexCath 10, Knoxville Webb 3

 

The junior-heavy Knights played a strong opening game. Josh Mesmer and Hugo Schurr scored hat tricks with 4 and 3 goals, respectfully. Goalie Matt Cervoni had an outstanding game against a strong Webb team. All 3 are juniors.

 

Lafayette 8, Roone County (TN) 0

 

Lafayette has 15 seniors this year and look to have their strongest squad in school history.

 

Knoxville Catholic 11, Tates Creek 10

 

This was a back and forth 'last one with the ball wins' type of game. A very good game for last years Division 2 state champions.

 

Dunbar 10, West Knoxville 5

 

Dunbar was down early in this game and go rolling in the 2nd half.

 

Knoxville Webb 9, Louisville Male 4

 

Knoxville Webb was a very physical team. The JV game between these 2 teams ended in a 0 - 0 tie in a defensive struggle.

 

Louisville Christian Academy did not play on Sunday.

The weekend results indicate that the 2013 lacrosse season in Kentucky will be very competitive. Dunbar looks very strong, Lafayette has 15 seniors and is playing their best ever, Lexington Catholic has over 20 juniors and Tates Creek, though losing a number of seniors from last years team - many of whom are now playing at the new formed Transylvania program - looked like they will be strong again.
