56th District Tournament @ Estill County

Featured Replies

56th District Tournament will be held at Estill County High School. Tournament will be the week of February 18-23.

Current Standings as of (1/23/13)

(1) Powell County (4-0) ;; 2 District games left; vs. Estill county 1/24 ;; @ Lee County 1/31

(2) Lee County (2-1) ;; 3 District games left; @ Owsley County 1/25 ;; vs. Estill County 1/28 ;; vs. Powell County 1/31

(3) Estill County (1-2) ;; 3 District games left; @ Powell County 1/24 ;; @ Lee County 1/28 ;; @ Owsley County 2/1

(4) Owsley County (0-4) ;; 2 District games left; vs. Lee County 1/25 ;; vs. Estill County 2/1

1 Seed lockdown ;; Powell needs to win 1 of the 2 district games remaining to lock down the 1 seed. If Powell defeats Estill tomorrow or if Estill defeats Powell by 9 or less then Powell will have the 1 seed locked down.

2 way tie (Coin flip) ;; Lee would have to defeat Powell by 26+ to get a tie with Powell for the 1 seed and Lee would have to win the rest of their district games...

3 way tie (nearly impossible) Estill would have to win out (def. Powell by 11+ & Lee by 26+), would need Powell and Lee to lose 1 of their two remaining games to make it a 3 way tie for first......that's a really really long shot that it happens this way.

4th seed; If Lee defeats Owsley on Friday then Owsley will be the 4th seed.

In order for Owsley to get out of the 4th seed they would have to defeat Estill by 9+ and then hope that Estill loses 1 more game or if Owsley defeats Estill by 9+ and Estill loses all 3 of their remaining district games then Owsley will be 3 and Estill 4.

I don't know for sure but I think the district tournament will be like last year. 1 & 4 seeds playing on Monday (Boys and Girls). Girls at 6 and Boys at 8....followed by the 2 & 3 seeds on Tuesday (Girls at 6 and Boys at 8) then on Thursday would be the Girls championship game and the boys championship game on Friday.

I believe that the only count up to +15 for total margain of victory, not 25, but I could be wrong.

Estill County will be the host this year. Boys championship will be on a Thursday and girls on Friday.

1. Powell County** (5-0): 1 District game remaining. 1/31 @ Lee

2. Lee County (2-1): 3 District games remaining. 1/25 @ Owsley, 1/28 vs. Estill, 1/31 vs. Powell

3. Estill County (1-3): 2 District games remaining. 1/28 @ Lee, 2/1 @ Owsley

4. Owsley County (0-4): 2 District games remaining: 1/25 vs. Lee, 2/1 vs. Estill

** locked.

That will pretty much be how the district goes this year

Powell looked good against Estill last night. Estill is very young and really doesn't match up well at all with Powell.

With Lee County defeated Owsley County last night the district tournament is set.

(1) Powell/(4) Owsley -- Feb. 18 at 6 PM

(2) Lee/(3) Estill -- Feb. 19 at 6 PM

This is the same situation for the boys except boys will play at 8 PM on both nights. Boys District Championship is on Thursday Feb. 20 and Girls is on Friday Feb. 21
