Pirates survive. Powell County hosted the Buckhorn Wildcats on Tuesday Night. Powell jumped out to a 6-0 lead but Buckhorn tied it up at 6-6, once Powell took an 8-6 lead they never looked back leading by as many as 20 in the first half, second half was a different story as the Wildcats got hot from the hot outside and made a comeback. With 5 minutes left to go in the game Powell lead 61-49, closest Buckhorn got from there on was 61-56. Buckhorn started knocking down 3's to cut into the lead but in the end the Pirates was just too tough as they held on to win 73-70. Buckhorn did hit a 3 at the buzzer to make the final score 73-70. John Hubbard and Brett Goodwin lead the Pirates in scoring with 19 apiece (Goodwin had 13 in the first half). Trey Marcum added 12 for the Pirates and Caleb McCoy added 10. Josh Crank and Connor Hoskins lead Buckhorn with 16 apiece. Dylan Cole added 15 for the Wildcats. With the win the Pirates improve to 6-10 (3-7 region). Buckhorn falls to 10-7 (5-3 region)

These two teams will meet again later this year (February 8th) at Buckhorn.
