Mastermind Posted January 20, 2006 Posted January 20, 2006 Wildcats take their second win over the Colonels.
LC99 Posted January 20, 2006 Posted January 20, 2006 Pretty good win for LC after a slow start that saw them fall down by 8 to 10 points early. LC was able to bounce back, and build a double digit lead a couple of times in the second half, but had trouble putting away Whitley. Whitley shot lights in the second, hitting several 3 pointers, that gave Whitley a chance to tie up the game final minutes of the game, but LC held on. LC starts the All A next week, and hopefully they can make a run.
Les Posted January 20, 2006 Posted January 20, 2006 Another ugly game, but kudos goes out to LC for winning. I'm really impressed with Guffey. He's a class-act guy that never stops coaching. LC was 26-of-59 from floor and 4-of-10 from ft line and turned the ball over 15 times. WC had nine turnovers, shot 18-of-69 from floor and 9-of-20 from 3-point land. WC's Jordan McCumbers hit 5 threes including four in the fourth quarter, he finished with 17. WC's Travis Roaden led the way with 24 points, while LC's Dixon and Bray had 18 apiece.
UnderPar Posted January 20, 2006 Posted January 20, 2006 Did they both press and get up and down the floor or was it more half court stuff?
Les Posted January 20, 2006 Posted January 20, 2006 Yeah,. they both pressed at times. Really impressed with Whitley tonight and Lynn Camp, too. It was a sloppy game, but Lynn Camp is playing more together and will improve if they keep doing that.
LC99 Posted January 20, 2006 Posted January 20, 2006 Lynn Camp only shot 10 free throws? It seemed Whitley shot about 25 or 30, but like LC didn't shot well from the line. I would like to LC give Dixon more touches, imo each offensive possession Cody needs to touch the ball at least once. I thought LC put up more bad shots tonight, than I have seen in awhile, if they can just be a little more patient on the offensive end the better the results will be.

I believe that their impatience on offense is one of the two things that prevents Lynn Camp from getting over the hump against some of the better teams in the region. The other is giving a more consistent effort on the defensive end. But they could remedy both of these areas if they put their minds to it.

I agree with getting the ball to the post if at all possible each trip down the floor, the center doesn't always have to shoot but it keeps the defense honest. 3 ft. shot are always easier to hit than contested 25 ft. shots. Guffy seems to be getting more from his players than early in the season, I found it odd last night that Whitley was shooting the double bonus half-way into the 2nd quater and no fouls had been called at all on Whitley Co., part of the reason this game was closer than many may have thought it would be. If the seniors for Lynn Camp would somehow play together and not worry who the star of the game may be, the cats could be a very dangerous team.
