12/4 Central at Male

Featured Replies

There are a few good matchups around the Seventh Region on Tuesday involving two of the region's top teams (Ballard at Atherton, Waggener at Eastern) but to my mind, this one is the most compelling. I think I'll make the drive over to Preston Highway and check out the Yellowjackets and the Bulldogs in person.

Not much more needs to be said about Central's big win over St. Xavier in the season opener. It was a rematch of a regional semifinal from a season before which St. Xavier had won but the Yellowjackets got the better of the Tigers in the season opener. I'm really looking forward to getting a look at senior forward Stuart Jackson, who had 13 in the season opener. At the same time, the outstanding play of Domonique Chandler and Jamie Johnson could mean that opponents will have their hands full trying to figure out which player to lock down on any given night.

The Bulldogs opened the 2012-13 season with a convincing and unsurprising win against an overmatched Shawnee team. They followed that up with close but ultimately disappointing 80-71 overtime loss to Atherton. Senior guard DJ Lambert had 19 in that season opener and will need to lead the team again to get a win.

Watch Dominique Sanford for Central, he was key in defending Kiesler against ST. X.
