Ladies portion of the turkey bird shootout

Featured Replies

Does anyone have any info on how the teams in the ladies portion of the turkey bird shootout?

I don't have a lot to share. WV beat Holy Cross but not by a bunch - maybe 7 or 8 points. It appeared that both teams rotated or played what would be there regular season rotation. WV looked sluggish and not ready to play, mainly in the first half...perhaps too much turkey and taters. Give credit to Holy Cross though, I am sure they had Thanksgiving also, but they looked pretty sharp. Beal is a nice player...you can tell when she is getting ready to score on you.

Other than that, I only have what I heard from others - SK had their way with Beechwood. Highlands beat Gallatin Co (by how much - I don't know)

HHS beat Gallatin pretty good in the first half. The second half was a different story with Gallatin holding the lead for the majority of the half. HHS did end up winning the second half, but only on a very late run.

Gallatin is small, but looked like they had several players that will contribute. They have a couple of very athletic shooters.

HHS was sloppy all day. A lot of unforced turnovers...sometimes just throwing the ball out of bounds with little to no pressure. I also think their 1:1 defense needs to get better. They seem to get beat off the dribble at times. Need to stick their nose in the bellies!!

Good assessment. Highlands very good and well coached, would not be surprised to see them win the 9th. Schaefer is the real deal, fun to watch. Gallatin will make some noise in the 8th, in my opinion.

HC/WV matchup was very slow paced, which plays into WV's hands due to their ability to prevent easy baskets with their size on the front line. WV are a team that can wear many hats and beat you in many ways.
