Lexington Dunbar has struggled. But they are getting better.

From team mascot to quarterback to an overdue in-city win.

The Mascot Miracle

Derrick Thomas has done some good things at Dunbar.

Last year he took hockey player Alec Tenfelde onto the team as a senior. Previous coaches would not let Alec play due to the conflict and focus on hockey. BTW, Tenfelde's brother Aaron is the goalie for the UK hockey team.

After only one year of high school football Tenfelde is now playing at Thomas Moore in NKY.

Now he took the team mascot and made him a hero.

So hopefully, Thomas stays at Dunbar and keeps things on the right right track there.

I love that story, I've seen it several times and it makes me say "wow" every time. It sounds like Thomas is doing what he has to do make the Dunbar program exciting and successful. I would say that he is going to have some success at Dunbar, the other Lexington schools better watch out.
