Wburg started two 8th graders, one 9th grader and lead this one going into the 4th period. Played OBI within 10 last week, maybe enough to save Haynes and Maxeys job if the jackets continue to improve.

I would think that WHS would give Haynes and Maxey a chance to rebuild, everyone knows that there is talant coming, but a change is going to made?

Only time will tell about if a change will be made or not, but I think one or both will be gone next year. There are 3 Jrs. Thomas Fraizer, Chase Hamblin, and Steven Jeffries that would play if a change was made, and these kids could help in a hurry.

I think Haynes and Maxey's records speak for themselves. If the Wburg People are happy with the direction of the program then by all means sign them to a long-term deal.

Wburg people are not happy except for the middle school kids who are getting varisty playing time and their parents.

I can recall a time not long ago where Wburg won 26 games and was a threat not only in their district, Class A region and Overall region under the leadership of another Coach who now coaches at Corbin. I hope they can get someone who at least thinks they can win. Wburg has made their bed with Haynes and Maxey and now they are sleeping with them. I say keep them around for another 5 seasons and let them mess up things worse than they already have. It works out for football....lol

Fact is West hit a very good run of players at Wburg and I give him credit for working hard and knowing his x 's and o's, a very good game coach. But something happened and it was best he moved on. The applicants at that time were not very impressive and Haynes seemed like a OK hire, but we all know hindsight is 20 20. The football deal at Whitley reminds me a little of the Rose pushed out Black put in at Wburg.

4chs players like that are coming, but the sr. class has nothing example look at football team this year and the few in the jr. class will not play for Haynes. Some years are going to be thin a small school like Wburg no matter who is coaching. Watch out for Daniel Petit, 6-4 8th grader who got the start against Whitley and played well.

I would agree with you it was best Coach West moved on. He did get to coach in the state tournament and seems to be a good fit for us at Corbin. Hopefully the Jackets will land a young coach who can breathe some life into the program. Rick Jones, Scott Co, Vandy, Mr Basketball, might be interested if the Vernon boys are not.

WE have tried real hard to get Mark, I have begged Mark and Randy, but Mark wishes to go the college way. Brent is finishing student teaching and not sure what his plans are. Not sure about Rick Jones, has he been staying out of trouble.
