Ram Posted October 16, 2012 Posted October 16, 2012 Ram is 29-7 after missing one game last week. There's some tough picks this week with district play heating up and teams fighting for home field advantage. Ashland at Johnson Central is the game to watch and not an easy one to pick the winner for. Greenup County at Boyd County is a game of evenly matched opponents and will determine a lot in their district. Who wins these and others? Keep reading. Ram'sNotebook will look at match-ups for the North-Eastern Kentucky area, which includes the following teams: Ashland, Boyd County, East Carter, Fairview, Greenup County, Lawrence County, Lewis County, Raceland, Russell, and West Carter. Raceland (6-2) vs. Paintsville (1-7) Raceland gets back on track this week with another district win and secures a first round home playoff game. Paintsville coming off a much closer game versus Nicholas County then expected will come into this game hoping for the upset. Raceland 48 Paintsville 14 Russell (5-3) at East Carter (1-7) East Carter is still having trouble but is one of those teams that can upset someone. Russell is not able to take anyone lightly, as proven by their loss to Mason County. Russell will have to come out and control the tempo and play their game this week. Russell 28 East Carter 14 Greenup County (0-8) at Boyd County (3-5) Greenup County is still trying to get their first win in two seasons, this week is one of their chances to do that. But, they will have to play better then they have all season to get that win. Boyd County is better then they have been in several year, but they are not dominate and will have to play well to win this game. Greenup County 28 Boyd County 35 Ashland (8-1) at Johnson Central (7-1) Game of the week in the area. On paper, it looks as if this is Ashland’s year to get their win over Johnson Central. Johnson Central is not as dominate as they have been in recent years, and Ashland is playing like they are on a mission. Ashland had the opportunity to rest some dinged up players last week. The edge has to be with Ashland. Ashland 34 Johnson Central 21 Fairview (8-0) at Nicholas County (6-2) Nicholas County is a good football team and has some nice players. But, I don’t think they are ready to match up with Fairview. Fairview is playing well and has many weapons and can score fast. Fairview gets the district win. Fairview 52 Nicholas County 14 West Carter (0-8) vs. Lewis County (2-6) West Carter remains winless this week. Lewis County is playing well and will be too much for the Comets. The Lions have been hard to predict with a close loss to Russell, but a lopsided loss to Fleming County, which Russell beat. Lewis County will find a way this week. West Carter 7 Lewis County 28 Lawrence County (3-6) at East Ridge (1-7) Lawrence County will end the regular season on a high note. East Ridge has only one win, with that coming against Phelps. I don’t expect them to get their second win this week. The Dawgs come to play. Lawrence County 48 East Ridge 14
