gold sunrise Posted October 10, 2012 Posted October 10, 2012 (edited) Clark defeats Indians for fourth straight district title By Keith Taylor Sun Sports Editor Central Kentucky News 9:26 a.m. EDT, October 10, 2012 The George Rogers Clark volleyball team fought off a challenge from host Montgomery County and retained its district title with an exciting 3-1 victory over the Lady Indians in four sets Tuesday night at the MCHS Arena in Mount Sterling. Both teams will advance to next week’s 10th Region Tournament set to begin Monday at Bracken County High School. Clark, four-time defending 40th District champion, will take on Mason County at 6 p.m. Monday. The Lady Cardinals (19-10) lost the first set 25-19, but then won game two 25-19, followed by an exciting 30-28 win in the next set. Clark capped the successful comeback with a 25-15 victory in the last game. Lady Cardinals coach Robyn Curry said her team got off “to a very slow start” but recovered in the final three games to get the win. “We played very scared,” she said. “We are young and inexperienced, but I told them we have to step up and play, and do the things we have taught them all year. We settled down, pulled it together and won the last three in a row.” Carrie Irvin, Sandra Skinner and Kyndal Curry were named to the all-tournament team. AboveTheNet Posted October 11, 2012 Posted October 11, 2012 Shocking that the coach's daughter and niece were both on all district team. Their libero is their best player, IMO.
gold sunrise Posted October 11, 2012 Author Posted October 11, 2012 Shocking that the coach's daughter and niece were both on all district team. Their libero is their best player, IMO. What is shocking about it. They were the best players for GRC in the district tourney. Amy is a very good player, but did not have a good district tourney showing.
AboveTheNet Posted October 11, 2012 Posted October 11, 2012 Curry had countless errors in serve receive for one. I just have always thought Amy was way better than people give her credit for. Not to mention always very kind and respectful.

Not to mention always very kind and respectful. I know how good Amy is, on and off the court, but she did not have a good district tourney showing and the others did. This was All Tourney for the district tourney. I look for Amy to shine at the regionals.
